Full Name:
Yogi Bear
Age:
30 (Birthday: March 6)
Gender:
Male
Species:
North American brown bear
Residence:
Jellystone Park
Personality:
Yogi doesn’t like to adhere to the usual social norms regarding his species—that is, being expected to act like all the other typical bears (although his residence is a cave, and he hibernates like all the others). He finds rubbing his backside against the bark of a tree to be beneath him, and suggests that the other bears never entertained the idea of “having a good time.” Because of his, he spends his time looking for other ways to have some fun.
Yogi generally gets along well with the tourists, at times entertaining them and providing them with assistance. He is especially good around children, usually playing with them.
Likes:
Yogi loves to eat. He will easily go out of his way to obtain the various goodies people take with them into the park…especially if they’re all together in a single container, i.e., picnic baskets.
He also likes to do things other humans do—that some people would refuse to let him do things because he is a bear is no barrier to him.
Dislikes:
Yogi rejects eating nuts and berries out of hand, as he feels those things alone provide inadequate nourishment, although he enjoys the occasional fish caught in a lake.
Although pretty much a free spirit, he gets rather impatient whenever he tries to restore some semblance of order and fails.
Talent and Abilities:
His ability to steal picnic baskets usually requires a lot of ingenuity and resourcefulness on his part. Not content with just running off with it, he keeps a lot of items in his closet especially for that purpose. He could allow that ingenity to creep into other purposes…if he chooses.
Like other bears, he is rather strong, more so than an average human. He is able to lift at least 200 pounds on his own.
Because of his body, he has a high pain tolerance, and usually gets away from falls and hits generally unscathed.
Weaknesses:
As is typical with his species, given his build and weight, Yogi has extreme difficulty climbing things unless there are rungs or a ladder.
Yogi becomes lethargic during the winter months. Having stored up enough energy, he tends to hibernate in his cave, although he can easily awaken. He can be somewhat irritable and cranky whenever he’s stirred, and reluctant to engage in any physical activity.
Yogi tends to let curiosity get the best of him, especially when it comes to testing out human things—most notably when he rode a scooter out of control all over Jellystone Park, much to everyone’s chagrin.
Appearance:
History:
Yogi was born in a cave in Mighty José National Park. His childhood could be best described as “somewhat spoiled”: oversight of people feeding the bears was somewhat lax, and it didn’t take long for Yogi to acquire the taste of food fit for human consumption.
His relationship with his parents was decent and uneventful, but also short-lived: his father died when he was six, the victim of an illegal bear hunt, while his mother followed a year later from a heart attack. Yogi’s maternal uncle and aunt, Uncle Northman and Aunt Kodiak, then cared for Yogi, during which they had many great times.
Expressing a desire to live on his own, Yogi moved to Jellystone at the age of 18 and slowly established himself as the park’s renowned animal attraction, for better or worse. Years later, he met Boo Boo, transferred to Jellystone after three years of living as a millionaire’s pet. They quickly hit it off and have had many exciting adventures since.
